Gluttons in the Pews

A word from the Lord

April 30, 2008

This morning during my prayer and worship time, the Lord burdened my heart and this is what He showed me.

He showed me the church body and that they are seated at His banquet table indulging themselves (receiving His Word) feasting as gluttons and they just sit back in their pews and keep it all to themselves. He showed me how they are not willing to feed the hungry. He says “Freely I have given, freely give” “Feed the hungry with the bread of life, do not keep it all (hording it) for yourself. Many are perishing for lack of food (His word) while many are sitting around fat from this abundant provision and do not share what was so freely given to them.

His heart is heavy as this is a great sin. We are commanded to spread the gospel. Not to receive it and let it die within us.

Then He brought me to this scripture.

Luke 13:6-9 "A certain man had a fig tree which had been planted in his vineyard; and he came looking for fruit on it, and did not find any.  "And he said to the vineyard-keeper, 'Behold, for three years I have come looking for fruit on this tree without finding any. Cut it down! Why does it even use up the ground?' "And he answered and said to him, 'Let it alone, sir, for this year too, until I dig around it and put in fertilizer; and if it bears fruit next year, fine' but if not, cut it down.'"
